It looks like leather, it acts like leather, but it's not leather. What is it? ... If you're saying: "It's C.W.L., which is what Veja Urca sneakers are made out of," you get a big thumbs up from us and bonus points for that. Cotton Worked as Leather is a vegan alternative to leather - organic cotton coated with corn and castor oil. The sole is made of 24% of the Fair Trade certified Amazon rubber, 23% of rice waste, and 12% of recycled rubber. The insole is made by certified workers in Brazilian factories from sugarcane, Amazon rubber, recycled EVA material, and organic cotton. The lining is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles (as a bonus, it will resist friction and give your foot maximum comfort and flexibility), and the laces weren't left behind either. Their 100% organic cotton boasts the USDA organic, EU organic, GOTS, and Brazilian Participatory Guarantee System certifications.
Dress differently than the rest. Be more like the French sneaker brand Veja.
Leather: is perhaps the best material for the production of footwear - maintains its shape, it is breathable and the list of its positive properties is far from ending.
Rubber
is used for products that are made using more environmently-friendly proceses which uses less water, energy and chemicals. Products with international certifications such as bluesign®, the 100 standard by OEKO-TEX® and MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® are placed under this label.
Products with this label are made mostly of recycled materials mostly made from old waste such as plastic bottles and clothes. These products has smaller environmental footprint thanks to processing more waste materials than virgin materials.
