The story of the market leader in caps and sportswear began in 1920. A German immigrant and skilled craftsman named Ehrhardt Koch sensed an opportunity to redesign and evolve the fashion headwear industry. So he borrowed money from his sisters to get it started and started a company in New York called New Era Cap Co. Back then, baseball wasn't in such a heyday. It wasn't until around 1932 that baseball started to gain some real popularity. Two years later, New Era won a big contract for the Cleveland Indians and the first baseball cap was born.
