HYPE, INNOVATION AND THE FUTURE

In general, innovation is expected in the world of sneakers, most notably a continuation of the global trend of sustainability. The mindset with which brands have been working in recent years, putting out an exponentially increasing number of sustainable collections, definitely doesn’t break any records in sales, but serves its main purpose perfectly. This purpose is education; a sign so to speak that it is possible to do things in a new way – a better and more sustainable one.

Simultaneously, the attention Nike is paying to its Adapt system suggests that truly technologically progressive sneakers are becoming a reality. Disregarding leather quality upgrades, the connection of sneakers and phones and voice control could soon be not an oddity but a completely normal part of your favourite sneakers.

For this year, the most anticipated models are still quite a bit more conservative. Traditionally, we will see a lot of Air Jordan 1s, a continuation of the popularity of Dunks and some new adidas Yeezy models will also come into play. In my opinion, these are the most anticipated sneakers for 2021 right now.

Sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle‚ Dark Iris‘

For the third year in a row, we’re enthusiastically awaiting a joint release from Nike and the luxurious Japanese brand Sacai. The Vaporwaffle silhouette, combining elements of the retro Nike Pegasus and the novelty Nike Vaporfly will be released in two colours once more after the November double drop, one of which was the Dark Iris colourway. The strong colour, the result of a combination of white, orange details and various shades of orange is but the first in a long line of very colourful sneakers that await us in 2021.

Supreme x Nike SB Dunk Low

The overwhelming hype which Dunks are experiencing inspired Supreme to come with 4 colourways for the Nike SB Dunk Lows, which will be released during the summer season. This time, the white base will be combined with black, brown, blue or light green themes, which will all be complemented with gold details – stars on the side, the Nike logo and a Supreme metal band over the toe-box.

Supreme x Nike Air Jordan 1

Air Jordan is a silhouette that has been in the limelight for a long time and isn’t going away any time soon. As with the Dunk silhouette, Supreme threw its gold star dust all over Michael Jordan’s legendary first model. There’s no precise date yet. The closest I can tell you is summer, which isn’t very precise,  but for this drop it’s absolutely worth it to keep your eyes peeled all summer.

Air Jordan 1 ‚Hyper Royal‘

The most elegant basketball sneakers of all time take one more place on our list. This time it’s with a white base and sky blue suede combined with a gray Swoosh and sole in Hype Royal colorway. When a sneaker is considered “clean”, it’s a very big plus for me personally. In this case, these are some of the cleanest sneakers I’ve ever seen.

Nike Dunk Low SE “Free 99”

Compared to other sneakers, Dunks have a really high creative potential. Designing them is almost like using the fill function in MS Paint on all the different surfaces, so it’s no wonder that sometimes one shoe is not enough to capture ideas. That’s why the Nike Dunk Low SE “ Free 99” are being released. The pair consists of two sneakers in a mismatched colour combination that works absolutely perfectly together, while a fur lining ensures perfect comfort.

A similar concept was unveiled this year with the Street Hawker colourway, which I already managed to miss. To be perfectly honest, if I hadn’t missed out on them they would be my number 1 on this list. ADIDAS YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “ASH PEARL”

Of all the models released in the last 5 years, the adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 is the one to reliably and regularly cause the biggest hype. In 2021, Kanye continues his mantra of “Yeezys for all” and is releasing another colourway of the 350 V2 model called Ash Pearl. This piece will probably also be dropping on our site, so stay tuned.

ADIDAS YEEZY 451

Yeezys have become a fairly normal shoe and lost their image of a “weird” shoe, so the time to push the boundaries has come again. The Yeezy empire plans on releasing the truly unusual 451 model, which confirms the truly extraterrestrial sources of inspiration for the Yeezy team, and is definitely one of the most anticipated sneakers of this year.

Sean Wotherspoon x adidas ZX 8000 „Super Earth“

Sean Wotherspoon pumps out his colourful collaborations like on a treadmill. After an extremely successful collaboration with Nike, he has also left his mark on the Asics Gel-Kayano III sneakers and last year’s jubilee adidas Superstar. This time, as with the Superstars, we’re expecting a Super Earth model, this time based on the sports icon ZX 8000. Be ready on March 12.

ADIDAS YEEZY BOOST 700 “Sun”

Sunrises and sunsets are the most beautiful moments on our planet. I personally can’t get enough of them, which is why I fell in love at first sight with the adidas Yeezy Boost 700 in the Sun version. The endless red horizon is portrayed through a bright midsole, while the upper is high noon, complemented by azure details reminiscent of the sky.
