Footshop was created in 2011 by Peter Hajduček, starting off as an online store with 50 pairs of sneakers in stock. Since then, Footshop has managed to become the biggest local sneaker retailer, with stores in Prague, Bratislava, Budapest and Bucharest as well as 15 online marketplaces, each offering worldwide shipping. Aside from sneakers, it also presents the complex surrounding culture to its customers.
Footshop started off 2019 with the opening of a premium store in the centre of Prague, located at Na Příkopě 20, in a building previously occupied by the Trade Bank. The store’s primary purpose is to present the premium brands and collections Footshop has to offer, as well as informing tourists about the brand. However, this store was only a part of Footshop’s plan to expand its network of brick-and-mortar stores – during the preparation of this store, plans were already underway to expand to new markets, specifically Bucharest in Romania, which opened on the 8th of November. Both of these stores also feature a gallery that showcases local artists, with the Bucharest store following the footsteps of Prague’s Vnitroblock store as a cultural meeting point, offering a unique shopping experience.
During October, Footshop managed to relay this experience to Czech fans and customers who are unable to visit the Prague stores in person by creating a pop-up store that toured around four big Czech cities, featuring not only sneakers, but also all kinds of activities, such as dance workshops, gaming contests, concerts and more.
In 2019, Footshop also continued its collaboration with the German brand KangaROOS by releasing a new colorway of their Ultimate 3 silhouette as a part of the celebration of Footshop’s first store’s fifth anniversary.
