Traditionally, June belongs to the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer) community. And just like last year, Footshop expresses its full support to those of us that face rejection and contempt from individuals, groups, and even state apparatus.

We’re all different. And Footshop is a platform that can advocate for these differences. Explicitly or passively, we try to make the environment we engage in diverse, enriching, and open to discussion that will hopefully lead to an understanding between different opinions.

Pride month, as June is also known regarding LGBTQ, presents the frequently asked question – why does a company that only sells shoes express itself on this topic? Like everyone around us, we also have an opinion – which in this case is also part of our company’s identity. An identity that aims to create a comfortable space in which everyone can express their orientation, attitude, and objections. Similarly, we also don’t force anyone what to think, be it an employee or a customer.

We don’t just want to tolerate, we want to accept. We want to live in a world where a person’s real qualities are important, rather than their sexual orientation, the color of skin or religion.
Same as we believe in love for sneakers, we believe that people can get on with one another based on what’s inside. It’s a cliché, but the type that you should always keep in mind. Because you never know who you’ll meet in life and how prejudice can alter your judgment – even when you could potentially get on with someone very well.
